TUCSON (KVOA) - The Benson Hospital and Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona announced a new partnership that will allow Benson residents in need to access hygiene supplies.
According to The Diaper Bank, one in three families struggle to provide diapers to their children.
"Lack of access to diapers and prolonged diaper wear not only leads to long term adverse health concerns, but can cause children to miss daycare if parents cannot provide the required diapers to attend, which can also cause parents to miss work, creates feelings of stress and disappointment for families, and can prompt families to sacrifice utilities or food expenses to pay for diapers. Diaper need is about more than diapers," The Diaper Bank said in a statement. "It’s about empowerment, education, safety, equity, and supporting our community. The impact of each diaper has long-lasting positive effects on families. Affordable access to adult incontinence supplies can ensure our seniors can continue living lives of independence and dignity."
Through this partnership, residents can access baby diapers and adult incontinence supplies. Residents will need to contact the Benson Hospital for more details on how to access the items.
The organizers plan to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Benson Hospital, 450 S. Ocotillo Ave., on Nov. 18 from 10 to 11 a.m.
If you're interested in attending, RSVP here or contact Hannah Anolik at hannaha@diaperbank.org for more information.
