For the second time this year, First Quality Consumer Products is helping out the organization Cradles to Crayons, a group that provides essential goods to children from birth through age 12 living in homeless or low-income situations.
The organization has seen an increase in needs for children ages 0 to 3 in the past year, citing that it has distributed 8.3 million diapers since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
First Quality has stepped up on the diaper front and more, previously supplying school supplies and goods during school season this year. The company is a leader in private brand absorbent hygiene, paper and packaging products that also has a branded line of diapers called Cuties. LIke the previous campaign, the new effort and throughout all of 2021, when consumers purchase Cuties diapers, a portion of proceeds will go to Cradles to Crayons. Additionally, First Quality is helping get the word out about the organization and round up volunteers by being a sponsor of the organization’s Gear Up for Baby campaign.
The effort will run for six weeks from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day, encouraging consumers across the greater Chicago, Philadelphia and Massachusetts areas to donate to the organization and volunteer their time collecting baby hygiene essential products to get out to families.
"Our diaper distribution has increased 275% compared to this time last year. The average infant wears up to 12 diapers a day — that's 360 diapers a month," said Lynn Margherio, Cradles to Crayons founder and CEO. "We are thrilled to have First Quality as our Gear Up for Baby presenting sponsor to help support the more than 1 in 3 families with young children nationwide who face diaper need."
The organization is getting diapers out to families but it also provides children with clothing, coats during the winter, shoes and school supplies. The national nonprofit engages volunteers to collect new and high-quality used children's goods for distribution through their network of service partners and their online donation platform, Giving Factory Direct. Last year, the organization served more than 550,000 children across the United States.
"By supporting Cradles to Crayons and the Gear Up for Baby campaign, we hope to relieve some of the stress that parents and caregivers are facing today," said Sima Delafraz, global leader of sales and marketing for First Quality. "Together we can help ensure that babies have the essential items they need to grow and thrive."
