MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Diaper Drive is set for the month of April to benefit Marquette County families in need.
Diaper Marquette County works to increase awareness of diapering needs and collect donations of diapers and wipes for local families in need with the support of community partners.
Donations collected will be used to support the Marquette County Community Baby Shower on May 7. The Marquette County Community Baby Shower provides families who are expecting a new baby or have a new infant at home the opportunity to learn about community resources and receive needed baby items.
Donations of diapers and wipes may be dropped off through April 30 at drop-off locations. Size newborn and one diapers are primarily needed. Drop-off locations include:
≤ Gwinn: Shannon’s Home Cooking at 120 N. Pine St.
≤ Harvey: Chocolay Ace Hardware at 2250 U.S. Highway 41 South
≤ Ishpeming: Jim’s Jubilee Foods IGA, 900 U.S. Highway 41 West
≤ Marquette: Jill Leonard State Farm, 3226 B U.S. 41 West
≤ Michigamme: Maple Ridge Resort, 134 Brown Road
≤ Negaunee: Midtown Bakery & Cafe, 317 Iron St.
Donors are encouraged to review businesses’ hours of operation prior to drop off. Special thanks to event sponsors Get Fresh Communications, The Shipping Shop, and Doulas of Marquette.
“One in three families has difficulty affording enough diapers for their babies nationally and Marquette County is no exception,” said Melinda Britton, owner of Doulas of Marquette and founder of Diaper Marquette County. “We hope that this drive will increase awareness, encourage donations, and help many families across Marquette County worried about caring for their babies’ diapering needs. Every donation helps — one small change can make all the difference.”
