Miami Beach Police Launch Operation Diaper Duty - RE:MiamiBeach

As the pandemic left many area families without money for basic needs, local organizations stepped up with food distributions. Now, the Miami Beach Police Department has partnered with the Miami Diaper Bank to provide another necessity – diapers. Through Operation Diaper Duty, MBPD will collect new, unopened boxes of diapers through February 4 with the goal of delivering a moving truck full on February 5.

“For babies in our community, diapers are a basic need like food and shelter,” Police Chief Rick Clements said in announcing the launch. “This is the humanitarian thing to do, not only for the babies but also for the parents. No parent should ever have to go without diapers for their children.”

The Miami Diaper Bank helps families across South Florida in six counties, including Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe, Lee, Collier and Palm Beach. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the non-profit organization has distributed more than 1.4 million diapers.

Donations may be dropped off at MBPD headquarters at 1100 Washington Avenue. While all donations are appreciated, the greatest need is for size 4 up to pull-ups.
