BUFFALO, N.Y. — A local organization just received a generous donation to help families in need who have young children.
Univera Healthcare is giving $10,000 to the diaper bank, "Every Bottom Covered" in Buffalo. They provide diapers and wipes on a monthly basis to families in need, all the way up until the child is three years old.
The donation will be enough for 60,000 diapers.
A study by Huggies and the National Diaper Bank Network shows one in three U.S. families have a “diaper need." Spectrum News spoke to the founder who says her own experience inspired her to give back.
"I was a single mother, raised a child in a single-family household and I understand how tough it can get. We had been in a low-income situation for many years and I just wanted to be able to reach back, got in the position to be able to reach back and I thought that would be an area I would see not being fulfilled in my community so I started the diaper bank," said Every Bottom Covered founder and executive director Raziya Hill.
They're working to give out diapers in all eight counties of Western New York.
