JOPLIN, Mo. – According to the National Diaper Bank Network, the average baby goes through eight to 12 diapers per day, and that adds up to $70-80 per month.

The Diaper Bank of the Ozarks set up shop to help out moms and dads today, passing out free diapers at Calvary Baptist in Joplin.

Plenty of parents rolled up to the drive-thru diaper giveaway.

Officials say the pandemic has impacted the availability of these essential items.

“We did have a hard time getting enough diapers in our inventory. It wasn’t just toilet paper you couldn’t find on the shelf, and we are still feeling the effects of the supply chain issue. We can’t get size 5 and 6’s from one of our primary manufacturers and whole sale outlets so this pandemic has been very interesting for us,” explained Kelly Paparella with the Diaper Bank of the Ozarks.

The Diaper Bank of the Ozarks aimed to give nearly 400 babies diapers on Saturday.
