Men’s room diaper changing stations free for local businesses

MANSFIELD - Richland Public Health has partnered with Pampers and Procter & Gamble to bring baby changing stations to men's restrooms throughout Richland County.

In 2018, a Florida father, Donte Palmer tweeted a photo of himself squatting in a stall and changing his son’s diaper on his legs. Palmer was forced to do this after he was unable to find a changing table inside a men’s restroom. This tweet went viral and Palmer founded #SquatForChange — an organization committed to arming dads with the proper changing tables to be hands in with their children.

When Pampers found that nine out of 10 dads had gone into a public restroom to not find a changing table, they joined the fight with Palmer to properly equip public restrooms with these resources. In 2018, Pampers pledged to install 5,000 changing tables in men’s restrooms by 2021.

Richland Public Health has now joined the effort to make diaper changing stations available in men’s rooms of local businesses in Richland County at no charge.

Gorman Rupp announces dividend increase, executive promotion

MANSFIELD - The Gorman-Rupp Company has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.155 per share on the common stock of the company, payable Dec. 10, to shareholders of record Nov. 13. The cash dividend will represent a 6.9% increase over the $0.145 dividend paid in the previous quarter.

This action will mark the 283rd consecutive quarterly dividend paid by The Gorman-Rupp Company and the 48th consecutive year of increased dividends to its shareholders, which positions Gorman-Rupp in the top 50 of all U.S. public companies with respect to number of years of increased dividend payments.

The company also announced third quarter earnings per share improved over second quarter of 2020 due to increased sales and cost containment efforts. Net sales decreased 10.4% or $10.3 million compared to the third quarter of 2019 and increased 3.7% compared to the second quarter of 2020. Gorman-Rupp officials say sales have decreased across all markets primarily as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, along with a slowdown in the oil and gas industry. Gorman-Rupp facilities and supply chain have remained operational through the pandemic.

As part of Gorman-Rupp's on-going succession planning, effective Jan. 1, 2021 the role of president will transition from Jeffrey S. Gorman, who will continue to serve as the company’s chairman and chief executive officer, to Scott A. King, who is currently the company’s vice president and chief operating officer. In addition to operational and financial oversight of all of Gorman-Rupp’s divisions and subsidiaries, King will join Gorman in leading the company’s strategic planning and acquisition efforts. He has been with the company since 2004 and has held various operational leadership roles during this time.

Phoenix Brewing participating in Ohio Pint Day

MANSFIELD - The Phoenix Brewing Company is joining more than 100 others across the state to participate in Ohio Pint Day, a fundraiser for the Ohio Craft Brewers Association (OCBA) to be held on Tuesday. The inaugural promotion invites craft beer enthusiasts to purchase a limited-edition collectible pint glass available exclusively at the Phoenix Brewing Company and other participating brewery taprooms. A portion of the sale of each glass benefits OCBA, the nonprofit trade association that promotes, protects and unifies Ohio’s craft brewing industry.

On Ohio Pint Day, stop by the Phoenix Tuesday during special hours from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Customers can purchase one of the limited edition glasses for $5 or earn one for free with every $25 purchase.

OCBA commissioned Columbus artist Adam Hernandez to design the inaugural Ohio Pint Day glass around the theme “#InThisTogetherOhio” after seeing the can designs he had produced for Jackie O’s Brewery.

Hernandez’s art will be showcased on a 16-ounce “can” glass provided by Boelter Beverage. The glass style was chosen in part to reflect the craft beer industry’s emergency pivot to canned beer in 2020 necessitated by the response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The inaugural Ohio Pint Day coincides with National American Beer Day. Public health also played a role in the choice of date: brewery taprooms tend to have more patrons on weekends, so the promotion is being held on a Tuesday in order to avoid overcrowding.

A complete list and map of participating breweries can be found at ohiocraftbeer.org/ohiopintday/.
