CAMDEN, NJ — Camden County residents will be able to drop off diapers and baby wipes starting Tuesday at 11 police department locations countywide, including two in Camden City.

“When I first came to the Office, I met with Sister Helen Cole, Administrative Director of Guadalupe Family Services in Camden,” Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill Mayer said Tuesday while announcing the diaper drive. “She mentioned a former study linking the connection between the financial strain of buying diapers and instances of child abuse.  Collecting diapers to be donated to families who are struggling is an easy way to help alleviate at least some strain on our families in need and potentially help our children as well.”

Diaper donations (preferred sizes include 4,5,6 and pull-ups) — made possible through a multi-department collaboration — will be accepted through Sept. 27. Officials said police departments' donation boxes will be contact-free.

“In light of the hardships caused by the current health crisis, we recognize that a number of parents may find themselves in difficult financial times.  This Diaper Drive is just one small way to help alleviate one stressor on our families,” added Mayer. “The Camden County community is home to numerous agencies who take a proactive, preventative approach to help protect children and we are happy to work together in the fight against child abuse.”
