The need for diapers has risen dramatically since the start of the pandemic. Diapers are a basic necessity that is often overlooked, and are so important in ensuring that families can send their children to daycare, so parents can work. It also alleviates the need for parents to cut back on other essentials such as food and clothing, along with delaying utility and rent payments. We are so grateful for the support of our community, which has led to us collecting over 30,000 diapers and 26,000 wipes since our launch in June. However, we recognize that we are far from meeting the need present in our community. In attempt to continue to extend our reach to more families, we are holding our final diaper drive of the summer on Friday, August 21st from 4-6pm.
Members of the community are encouraged to place the diapers in the trunk of their vehicle, and volunteers will safely remove them upon arrival to the Summit Street parking lot. All sizes of diapers are needed, especially sizes 4, 5 and 6, along with baby wipes and training pants. The diapers and wipes collected will be brought to the Manchester Public Schools Welcome Center, who will help distribute the diapers and wipes to families in need.
